Huskies Come Up Short Against Monarchs
Let's just say that wasn't the ending we were hoping for! The Huskies couldn't seem to get it together on Thursday night and the Mildmay Monarchs held on for the 3-2 win.
Mildmay was the first on the scoreboard early in the first. With two minutes left in the period Cole Spielmacher replied with a laser of a shot to the corner of the net. Helpers were awarded to Mark Aljoe and Brayden Kaufman. The Monarchs scored another in the second and again at the beginning of the third to take the 3-1 lead.
With 1:38 left to play in the game, the Huskies pulled their goalie, Ben Bluhm, looking for the big comeback. Jordan MacDonald brought the puck out of his own end and went coast to coast, deeking the goalie and scoring with two seconds left on the clock. Tyson Hutcheson notched the assist. The game ended with a 3-2 loss for the Durham squad.
Blyth will visit Durham on Saturday at 12:15. The team will be looking for a big win to be able to finish near the top of the round robin.
