Midget LL Huskies Win, Lose, and Draw
Submitted By Darlene Melanson on Monday, January 26, 2009
The Midget LL Huskies played their first four games of 2009 recently, and managed one win, one loss, and two ties.

First, the Huskies travelled to Tara to face the Arran-Elderslie Ice Dogs, on Jan. 3. Both teams tried very hard and the game resulted in a 3-3 tie. Goal scorers for the Huskies were Matt Surridge, Cayle Anderson, and Kyle Green, with assists going to Chris Giles, Curtis Caswell, Green, and Nathan McGuigan.

Next, the Huskies visited Walkerton to go up against the Walkerton Capitals, on Jan. 4. The game got off to a good start for the Huskies, who took an early lead and kept the game tied up frequently. However, the Huskies lost it near in the third period and the game ended 9-6 for the Capitals. The goal scorers in this game were Caswell (2), Surridge, Green, Brandon Stevens, and Anderson. Assists went to Green (4), Anderson, Surridge, and Dylan Cremona.

After this, the Huskies went to Normanby, on Jan. 11. Once again, both teams played very well and the game ended in a 1-1 tie. The lone goal was scored by Cremona, and assisted by Caswell and Cole Hollands.

Finally, the Huskies travelled back to Walkerton to face the other Walkerton Capitals team, on Jan. 12., and managed their first win of the New Year.

In the first period, the Capitals started off the scoring, but their lead didn't last long before Green scored the Huskies first goal, unassisted.

In the second period, neither team scored any goals, but things got rowdy in the third period, causing the Huskies to try even harder. This resulted in the Huskies scoring three more goals and getting the 4-1 win. Goals went to Surridge, assisted by Ken Campbell, then Green scored two more giving him a hat trick, with an assist going to Luke Ronka, while his last goal was once again unassisted.

The three stars of this game were Green, Surridge, and goalie Justin Paylor. Keep up the good work boys!
