Huskies Split games with Mildmay
Submitted By Todd Stoddart on Sunday, March 01, 2009
Home was not so sweet as both Durham & Mildmay won on the road.

Thursday Feb 26th
The Huskies traveled to Mildmay on Thursday night to take on the other undefeated team in round robin play.  Both Durham and Mildmay have kept a perfect record with four wins apiece and the two games were actually almost a mirror image of each other.  In the first game Mildmay had a two to nothing lead before Durham could get on the board.  Nic Whiteside from Dylan McDonald made it a one goal game but Mildmay increased the gap to two again before Jeffrey Aljoe & Whiteside again, would tie it up.  Noah Johnson assisted on the Aljoe goal.  Durham would take the lead before the end of the second when Brady Becker from Johnson would score the eventual winner.  The lone goal in the third period belong to Becker again and the final ended 5-3 in favor of Durham.

Sunday March 1st
Back in Durham for the tail end of the home & home, the Huskies would be the ones to take the lead early. Whiteside from Becker off the face-off and then Johnson from Whiteside and Aljoe, both in the first period. With a two nothing lead heading into the second period, the Huskies started getting beat to the puck.  Mildmay became more aggressive and was winning the battles for the puck, this resulted in them tying the game and then taking the lead, all in the second period.  The game remained 3-2 for a long time but Mildlmay notched two more late markers and the game ended 5-2 in favor of them.

Paw Prints:  The flu bug was playing havoc with the Huskies on Sunday, Laresen Lorenz was unable to play while a couple of other Huskies played but had to keep the shifts short due to not feeling well.  If your waiting for me to say something about the refereeing,...... there I said it!  We have no more game currently scheduled, we have to wait and see what the league has planned.  Next up is the Mildmay tourney on March 20th weekend.  I'm off to Florida Friday so.......... I'll be thinking about you...... :)
